Things to do

St Neots is well placed for a wide choice of things to do. As well as the shops, cafes and restaurants, there are a number of places to visit for all the family.

History and natural beauty

St Neots offers a blend of historical intrigue and natural beauty. Explore the St Neots Museum and learn about the life of St Neot himself, the medieval priory that once thrived here, and the Civil War battle of St Neots. Riverside and Priory Park and nearby Paxton Pits provide acres of lakes, meadows, and woodlands, perfect for walking, birdwatching, or enjoying a picnic.

St Neots has three main churches, all named St Mary’s, one in the centre of town, and the others in Eynesbury, Eaton Socon. Take in the scenic views or visit the play park along the River Great Ouse at Riverside Park. Below are some of the highlights to see and do. Further afield are Wyboston and Grafham Water, both well-known for their water sports, and outdoor pursuits such as golf and walking.

St Neots Museum

The Museum was opened in 1995, in what was the Old Court – a former police station and law court building on New Street.

The museum presents the history of the busy market town of St Neots on the River Ouse, from prehistoric times onwards and includes the original early 20th-century gaol cells where prisoners were detained.

Learn about the life of St Neot himself, the medieval priory that once thrived here, and the Civil War battle of St Neots. Discover the story of the Great North Road and the coaches that made St Neot’s such an important staging post, and how the town changed with the coming of the railroad in 1851.

Priory Park

Priory Park is a beautiful green space covering 32 hectares (80 acres) off Huntingdon Road in St Neots. The park features extensive mature woodland with native specimens of oak, chestnut, plane and lime trees, alongside excellent sports facilities including football pitches and two large children’s play areas.

Grafham Water

Grafham Water is a scenic reservoir near Huntingdon, perfect for walking, cycling, and watersports. With its nature trails, play areas, and cafe, it’s a great spot for a family day out. It’s home to a diverse range of wildlife, making it ideal for nature lovers.

St Neots Skatepark

A nationally popular skatepark and one of the largest in the region. It is situated in a nice spot by the river with a lot of variation in the ramps and an imaginative layout. With a huge vert wall with a quarter pipe in the middle, the back of which is shared with a massive 13ft vert half pipe.

St Neots Golf Club

Founded in 1890 when a group of golfers were permitted to play on the common. This mature 18-hole parkland is situated at the junction of the Rivers Kym and Ouse, combining both water and charming features in a harmonious and natural way.
