Purple Surfers – free digital accessibility workshop (beginner friendly)

Purple Surfers are bringing a FREE in-person workshop to St Neots Library on Wednesday 5th August, led by an expert accessibility trainer. All experience levels are welcome, from complete beginners to those looking to get more out of the technology they already use.

Open to all St Neots residents aged 18 and over.

Also ideal for Carers, Care Professionals, Personal Assistants and anyone supporting someone who uses Direct Payments.

The big focus? Accessibility.

Did you know your device already has built-in tools that can make a huge difference to your daily life? The workshop will walk you through features such as:

  • Text to speech, so your device reads content aloud to you
  • Screen magnification, to make text and images easier to see
  • High contrast and colour filters, to reduce eye strain
  • Voice control, so you can navigate your device hands-free
  • Customisable alerts and notifications, so you never miss what matters
You’ll also explore email and video calling, two everyday tools that can keep you connected and independent online.

The best part? There’s no pressure. Participate as little or as much as you like, or simply watch along as the demos unfold. It’s going to be a fun, enjoyable session and everyone leaves with complimentary guides to take home so you can keep learning in your own time.
