Supporting the launch of Discover Huntingdonshire

Huntingdonshire District Council has launched a new website, www.discoverhuntingdonshire.co.uk, which is a new online platform to showcase the district’s attractions, events, and local businesses. This launch is part of a broader “Happens in Hunts” campaign, designed to celebrate the area’s strengths and promote it as a place to live, work, and visit.

This initiative began in 2023 when BID Huntingdon, Neotists and the Great Ouse Valley Trust came together to develop a tourism strategy for the district. Launched at the Pride in Place Conference. The partnership continued to work closely with the district council’s economic development team to facilitate the development of a look and feel for the region.

Our “Discover” brand, which has been developed by Davey Podmore from AVIDD design and rolled out across our Huntingdon, Ramsey, St Ives and St Neots sites, has been very well received by the residents. We granted permission for the district council to use the branding to ensure that visitors to the area have a consistent and positive message. The new district-wide site plays a similar to the town websites with a few crucial differences.

  • It is a promotional tool designed to highlight the best of Huntingdonshire. It features information on attractions, events, market towns, and local businesses to a wider audience.
  • It has been launched to support the “Happens in Hunts” campaign, which aims to celebrate the district’s identity and showcase its strengths and progress. The campaign focuses on areas like market towns, investment in facilities, and growth supported by local funding, and also recognises the district’s role in the wider Cambridgeshire and Peterborough region.

The domain had been purchased by one of our partners early in this project’s development, as it was vital for our wider plan to deliver economic development in the region. With this launch, it completes the process of promoting our region at this crucial time when Local Government Reform (LGR) is reshaping our borders and authorities.
