Ribbon cut on David Lloyd St Neots ahead of Tuesday’s opening
St Neots has a brand new place to swim, train, play and unwind. The ribbon was cut today on David Lloyd St Neots, the new health and wellness club at The Hub at Wintringham, ahead of its doors opening to members on Tuesday 6 October.
The Mayor of St Neots, Catherine Goodman, performed the honours alongside Ian Sollom MP and Paul Bristow, Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, who described the new club as a big sign that St Neots is “a town on the up”.
What’s inside
This is a sizeable addition to the town’s leisure offer, with something for every age and pace of life:
- Spa Retreat and Spa Garden, with indoor and outdoor spa areas and a hydrotherapy pool.
- Swimming all year round, including an outdoor heated lap pool with a terrace lounge.
- A modern gym and a dedicated Mind & Body studio for yoga and classes.
- Racquets, with three covered tennis courts plus padel, badminton and pickleball, and coached lessons, leagues and social sessions.
- Family facilities, including indoor soft play, a child activity area and DL Kids Club, along with after school and holiday clubs.
- The Clubroom, a space to eat, meet friends, work or simply sit back and relax.
The building also includes solar panels as part of David Lloyd’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
Meet the team
Behind the scenes, the club’s team has been busy getting everything ready for opening day. Led by General Manager Matt Borer, the line-up includes department leads alongside the reception, fitness, racquets, Clubroom and operations teams, the friendly faces who’ll be welcoming members through the door next week.
It’s good news for local employment too. The club has created around 75 jobs across fitness, spa, hospitality and business administration, many of them filled by people from St Neots and the surrounding area.
A boost for Wintringham and the wider town
David Lloyd is one of the first major names to open at The Hub, which is set to become the main centre for shops, services and amenities serving Wintringham, the town’s fast-growing new neighbourhood to the east. Its arrival adds another reason to visit St Neots, and another reason for people who live here to stay local for their leisure time.
